Befriend A Child

Befriend A Child are Aberdeen’s only 1:1 befriending service for vulnerable young people in the city.  We offer a few hours of befriending with an adult role model, enhancing self esteem, promoting welfare and active lifestyles, and offering access to new skills and social interests.  Working with more than 150 young people aged between 5 and 18, Befriend A Child provide an opportunity for access to activities which most would take for granted.

In the past year, 45% of all referrals to Befriend A Child cited substance or alcohol misuse as the reason for referral to the organisation, and we expect this to grow.  We want to play our part in addressing this growing issue by working with the children of drug and alcohol mis-users; victims who are all too often overlooked.
